STEP 1: Remove Old Antivirus Software
RADS will attempt to detect incompatible software on your system before it installs.
This page shows the list of applications that are detected
by the RADS Installer. If you have any antivirus software that does not appear on the
list or that is on the list but will not be removed by the installer, you must
remove it before continuing. Failure to do so could lead to an unstable system.
| NOTES: |
|
If you are running Windows Defender on your system, be sure to review the FAQ page for information about dialogs that may appear during the installation of the software. There is a known issue where the ImageNow software package may fail to work properly once RADS 4 has been installed if you previously had installed RADS 3.x or McAfee VirusScan. Please visit the FAQ page for more information. |
STEP 2: Download and Run Software
Download the RADSSetupXP.exe package from the University Software Portal and save
it to your computer. Once the download completes, double-click the EXE file to start the setup
program.
| NOTE: |
| You must be logged in as a user with administrative rights in order for setup to succeed. |
STEP 3: Welcome Screen
The welcome dialog will appear informing you that you should
close any open applications before continuing the installation process.
Once you have close any running applications, click Next.

STEP 4: License Agreement
When the license agreement dialog appears, read the agreement IN ITS
ENTIRETY and then select I accept the terms in the License
Agreement and click Next to continue.

STEP 5: Software Removal (OPTIONAL)
If this dialog appears, it means that the setup wizard has found software installed
on your system that is incompatible with the current version of RADS. Normally, you
can just click Next to have the setup wizard remove the software
for you automatically.
If you wish to remove the software yourself before continuing, select I prefer to remove the software myself. If you choose this option, the wizard will exit. Simply restart the wizard once you have removed the software.
If the setup wizard cannot automatically remove the software, you will be
prompted to continue or exit the wizard and remove the software yourself. If you choose to continue, your system may become unstable
due to incompatibilities with the other software. Unless you are sure there
will not be a problem, you should exit and remove the software before continuing.

STEP 6: Server Profile
When the server selection dialog appears, you should simply click Next.
The appropriate server is automatically selected for you by the setup wizard. You should
only change the settings on this page if you understand what you are doing or have been
instructed to do so by your system administrator. Using incorrect settings may cause
the software to stop updating properly.
| NOTE: |
| If you do not wish to have your client report back to the server and would rather have a completely standalone configuration, you may choose the Disconnected Client profile from the list. However, this is not typically recommended because your system may not be protected from viruses as quickly as those systems reporting to the server. For more information on the Disconnected Client setting, see the Disconnected Client Information page. |

STEP 7: Summary
The summary dialog will appear to summarize the installation settings that have been
selected for your system. Click Install to start the installation.

STEP 8: Install Software and Finish
The installation dialog will appear to show you the current status of the installation
process. Once the installation completes, an icon will appear in your system tray.

If you have firewall software installed and enabled on your system, you should review the Frequently Asked Questions section to determine what ports you will need to open up.
After the installation completes, review the User Guide for additional information on using and configuring RADS.
