STEP 1: Remove Old Antivirus Software
Remove any antivirus and firewall software from your system. This includes previous versions
of RADS, McAfee VirusScan, McAfee Desktop Firewall, Norton Antivirus, etc. If you do not
remove this software, your system may become unstable due to incompatibilities between the
software packages.
STEP 2: Download and Run Software
Download the RADSSetupNT4.zip package from the University Software Portal and save
it to your computer. Once the download completes, extract the files to your computer and then
double-click the INSTALL.EXE file located inside the PCCNT\Disk1 folder
to start the setup program.
NOTE:
You must be logged in as a user with administrative rights in order for setup to succeed.
STEP 3: Install Software and Finish
The installation window will appear to show you the current status of the installation
process. Once the installation completes, an icon will appear in your system tray.
NOTE:
The icon that appears is the disconnected client. Because Windows 9x/ME and NT 4.0 computers are considered legacy operating systems, they will receive their updates directly from Trend Micro and not be managed by the Office of Information Technology. Your system administrator may instruct you on how to change the settings of the client if they wish to have your system report to their management server instead. However the client is configured, it will continue to update and protect you from the latest virus and spyware threats.
STEP 4: Update Software
Right-click the OfficeScan Client icon and choose Update Now. If you see a
grayed out message that says Update process is running, you can skip this
step. Otherwise click the Update Now button to update the software.
STEP 5: Configure Scheduled Updates
Download and run the Scheduled Update Configuration Tool. This
will allow you to modify the schedule for when the client will update its antivirus and
anti-spyware pattern files.
Review the User Guide for additional information on using and configuring RADS.
